Welcome to the official website of the Elbereth conference!

Every year, the Elbereth conference gathers PhD students from various astronomy and astrophysics laboratories of Île-de-France. Organized by PhD students and for PhD students, it aims to develop links between students and allows the participants to discover the most recent works in astrophysics.

Elbereth 2020

The 2020 edition will be held from February 26th to 28th, 2020 in the amphitheater of the Institut d’Astrophysique de Paris.

How to join

  • First you will have to register, then fill in your personal details in the personal area (follow the instructions availables on the page How to register? located in the Useful information) section;
  • Registration will be closed on February 10th ;
  • It is not required to give an oral presentation to take part in the conference. Nevertheless, if you want to, you can submit an abstract in the personal area. Submissions will be allowed up to February 10th.
  • If you are having trouble during the registration process, in particular if you don’t receive the confirmation e-mail, please contact us.

For the 2019 edition of the Elbereth conference, 105 PhD students came from all over the region to present their work.

During these three days (February 20th, 21st, 22nd):

- 51 talks by PhD students on various astrophysical/astronomy topics (cosmology, compact objects, planetology...)

- 7 talks given by permanent researchers: Françoise Combes, astrophysicist at Collège de France, Rosine Lallement, researcher at GEPI, Miho Janvier, post-doctorate at LESIA, Marc Sauvage, astrophysicist at CEA, Hervé Dole, astrophysicist at IAS and teacher at Université Parsi-Sud/Paris Saclay, Jean-Pierre Bibring researcher at IAS and finally Jean-Pierre Lebreton associated researcher at LPC2E and LESIA.

- A guided tour of the Paris Observatory

- A very festive closing buffet !
